What’s covered: manufacturing defects and faults in materials. VELUX may repair, replace, or refund the product.
What’s not covered: incorrect or poor installation, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, cosmetic changes (fading, scratches), accidents, building faults, condensation, extreme weather, or modifications. Costs for dismantling, re-installation, or temporary protection are also excluded.
To make a claim, provide proof of purchase and contact VELUX New Zealand Customer Service. Claims must be made within the warranty period and within two months of noticing an issue.
Care & Maintenance
Regular care helps your skylights perform at their best and protects your warranty.
Glass Cleaning
- Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth or brush.
- Avoid using scrapers across large areas as scratches are not covered by warranty.
- For stubborn spots, use a new razor blade gently in one direction.
Interior Care
- Wood frames should be wiped clean and re-painted periodically.
- PVC frames are maintenance-free and only need wiping.
- Insect screens can be removed, hosed down, and dried before replacing.
- Keep drain holes clear and wash or replace air filters as needed.
Mechanical Maintenance
- Grease hinges on roof windows once a year.
- Sun tunnels do not require lubrication.
Exterior Care
- Wash cladding and flashing with mild soapy water.
- Clear leaves and debris around skylights and gutters.
- Touch up minor scratches with VELUX paint and replace damaged flashings if required.
Safety
Cleaning and inspections may require ladders or scaffolding. Always follow safe working practices and use fall protection when necessary.
